Individuals who offer hotline pet loss support vary greatly in their training, education, experience and expertise with no minimum standard of care or training required. Please note: Pet loss can trigger difficult emotional responses that warrant professional help which is beyond the scope and training of most Pet Loss Hotlines. While they can provide compassionate support, they are unable to evaluate human mental health issues and do not provide mental health counseling.
